Through the following training programs, you’ll develop your key messages to clearly articulate your effort or business, learn common pitfalls to avoid when speaking with the public and reporters, and gain practical experience with speaking with reporters and the public.
Key Message Development Session: This half-day, interactive session (4 hours for up to 6 people) helps business leaders hone in on the 3-5 key messages that are critical to their business or project. These messages can then be used across marketing materials. The specific goals of the training are to:
- understand common mistakes in messaging,
- learn how and why to use key messages,
- identify words to avoid and words to associate with the company or project,
- develop custom key messages and
- practice using those key messages.
Media Training Session: In this full-day (6-8 hours), interactive session for up to 6 people, you will:
- participate in a pre-training interview that is videotaped,
- understand common mistakes made in speaking with reporters,
- learn how and why to use key messages,
- identify words to avoid and words to associate with the company or project,
- develop key messages,
- learn techniques for staying on target,
- gain tools for getting your key messages into print or on the air,apply the lessons with a post-training interview that is videotaped,
- review and contrast your interview skills before and after the session,
- read sample backgrounders that help you prepare before every media interview and
- cover the difference between phone and in-person interviews.
* 50 percent of payment is due two weeks in advance of trainings and remaining payment is due by the beginning of the training.
